There are some matters you should never take into your own hands. For example, your college rugby team probably isn’t the first call to make if you need immediate heart surgery. If your house is on fire, you’d best call the fire department, not the local grocer.
As much as we trust and love our customers, fixing furniture should be left to the professionals. Let’s take a second and look at a few reasons why!
Detecting Danger
No matter how good your furniture is, sometimes the tides of time wreak havoc, and something can break, bust, or get bruised. The first reaction may be to try to patch it yourself, but that can actually be worse in the long run.
Take a couch, for example. While you might think that you are simply replacing a screw, do you really know how complicated the inner workings of couch mechanics are? If you hesitated for even a second to answer that, maybe it’s best that you put that screwdriver down … right now. Give us a call instead, and we’ll be glad to help figure out what the problem is.
And remember, when it doubt, don’t be like Robbie: Robbie thought that he could fix all of his dining room chairs by himself, but then found himself falling to the floor as what he thought was “fixed” was actually just “temporarily held together with duct tape until he sat on it.” Now Robbie is not only missing a chair chairs, but had an emergency room visit, as well. We’d hate to see the same happen to you!
Warranty Worries
Personal physical harm and further damaging your furniture aren’t the only two concerns you should have when you pick up that toolbox and try to repair furniture yourself. You also could be starting a counterproductive process that could result in your furniture never getting fixed in the first place.
While furniture warranties may cover defects, they aren’t going to cover any damage you cause to the product by trying to fix it yourself. You probably don’t want to risk causing further damage to your furniture – and also risk voiding the warranty and placing yourself further away from getting that furniture fixed.
What you should do instead
Instead of taking matters into your own hands, leave them in trusted hands. Hands like ours. With years of experience in furniture, we’ll be glad to lend you some expertise! Better yet, we’re right here in town! You won’t have to deal with online chats or remote technicians, and you know you’ll be getting personal service that really cares about you.
Of course, sometimes furniture just breaks beyond repair. If that happened to you, that’s still a great opportunity to give us a call. We understand how hard it can be to throw away old furniture that you’ve bonded with over the years, but we’ll walk with you hand in hand through the new world of furniture that awaits.
